PESTLE Insights: Macroeconomic Outlook Report-Sweden

Summary

Stockholm, Northern Sweden and Southern Sweden contributed 58.9% to the country's GDP and comprised of 55% of the Sweden's population as of 2016. Until 2030, the country is expected to spend EUR64 bn (USD 70.8 bn) on railways, roads and other major projects, as well as build 700,000 new homes and offices that will create opportunities for contractors in Europe and beyond.

Services sector contributed 73.7% to gross value added (GVA) in 2017, followed by secondary (25.1%) and agriculture (1.2%) sectors. These sectors are forecasted to grow by 4.1%, 3.8% and 2.1%, respectively in 2019.

The overall OMX30 index exhibits a downward trend over the last one year. As of January 23, 2019, OMX Stockholm 30 index stood at 1,478.7, compared to 1,643.7 on January 23, 2018.

Scope

- As per the World Bank's logistics performance index (LPI), transport and logistics infrastructure in Sweden improved its rank to 2nd in 2018 from 3rd in 2016 out of 160 countries.
