Summary

Four major regions in Australia generated around 88.8% of the country's GDP and comprised 88.2% of the country's population in 2017

The US remained the major investor in Australia in 2017, with a growth of 5.1% in investments during 2016-2017. During the same period, investments from Hong Kong to Australia increased by 14.1%.

Services contributed majorly (71.9%) to the GVA in 2017, followed by manufacturing, mining and utilities (17.0%). In nominal terms, the two sectors are expected to grow at a robust pace of 5.8% and 3.7%, respectively, in 2018

- The Australian government in the 2018-2019 budget has committed AUUSD 75 bn (USD 56.9 bn) over 10 years on the development and modernization of infrastructure
